University Health Center

Using Insurance to Pay Your Bill

Charges for medial services are the responsibility of the patient. The University Health Center will file claims to all insurers as long as a copy of your insurance card is presented at the time of your appointment.

Blue Cross Blue Shield Insurance (BCBS)
    If you have BCBS insurance:
  • The UHC is a preferred provider
  • Claims are filed automatically unless the patient requests to pay out-of-pocket
Other Health Insurance
If you have other health insurance:
  • The UHC is an out-of-network provider
  • Write-offs will NOT occur
  • Patient is responsible for all charges not covered by the insurance company
  • Patient must present insurance card in order to have claims filed by the UHC
  • Insurance-ready bills are available upon request
UNL Healthy Option
If you have the UNL Healthy Option Student Plan:
  • The UHC is a preferred provider
  • Covered UHC services paid at 100%, including most laboratory, physical therapy, radiology, specialty, counseling and psychological services, and annual exam expenses
  • Claims are filed automatically unless the patient requests to pay out-of-pocket

You can always pay your bill with cash, check, VISA, MasterCard or put in on your NCard. 30 days after the date of service, unpaid charges will be transferred to your MyRED account.
