CAPS Cost of Services

University Health Center statements are generated weekly on Mondays. There will be approximately a 28 day span between statements. When your bill becomes 30 days old it will be sent to your University bill and appear on your WAM account.

The Clinic Information Services office at the UHC will file insurance claims for you. To facilitate this, you will need to bring your insurance card to your appointment. In addition, you will need to know the policyholder’s date of birth, social security number and address. The UHC will file all covered claims with the Healthy Option Student Plan (student insurance). We are a preferred provider for Blue Cross/Blue Shield. Additionally, we will file claims for any other insurance company, but we can not guarantee a benefit payment. Please check on your out of network benefits by contacting your insurance company prior to any scheduled service.


Insurance plans usually cover at least some of the assessment charges (but not failed visits).  Please be advised that it is the student’s responsibility to contact his/her insurance carrier to establish exact policy coverage and/or necessary pre-authorization requirements.

• Cancellation or reschedule of any appointment less than 24 hours prior to scheduled appointment will result in a failed visit charge of:
  • $10.00 for Intake and Therapy Sessions
  • $50.00 for Testing Session
  • $25.00 for Psychiatric Visit

Counseling/psychotherapy sessions one through three are at NO ADDITIONAL CHARGE. There is a charge for the fourth and subsequent counseling/psychotherapy sessions. In order to receive the subsidized rate for the fourth and subsequent counseling/psychotherapy sessions, the UHC facility fees for the current semester/session must be paid. Costs for psychiatric visits begin with the first session and the UHC facility fees for the current semester/session must be paid to receive the subsidized rates. Community rates for counseling, psychological and psychiatric services are much higher, but we are able to keep our charges low because all services are subsidized by your UHC facility fee.
