How to Complete the New Student Health Requirement
Come to the University Health Center (Room 158) - Monday thru Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
Bring Your Immunization Record
You need to show proof you've had:
- Two rubeola measles/MMR immunizations OR
- A positive rubeola lab result - a blood test that looks for antibodies to measles, mumps and rubella to determine if you are immune to the diseases
If your immunization record can't be found:
Have a rubeola blood test drawn at the University Health Center. This blood test will look for antibodies to measles, mumps and rubella to determine if you are immune to the diseases. An appointment to have the test done is not required. Walk in during business hours. A negative test result requires two rubeola measles/MMR immunizations.
Complete your tuberculosis test
This test is required for all international students. NO EXCEPTIONS. The test MUST be done at the University Health Center. A chest x-ray and physician visit is required if the test is positive.
All costs are the responsibility of the student. For students who have the University of Nebraska's student insurance plan, the cost is covered 100 percent
If you have questions or concerns about this requirement, call 402.472.1621.
Meningococcal Vaccine Available at the University Health Center
Meningococcal disease is a rare infection with potentially devastating results. The vaccine is recommended for first year students living in university residences, but it is not required by the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.
