Confidentiality
The University Health Center maintains the privacy and security of all student health records as mandated by federal and state law. The Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) applies to educational agencies and
institutions that receive federal funds under any program administered by the Secretary of Education. Privacy and security provisions of the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA) apply to health
information created or maintained by the University Health Center.
These laws generally require prior written consent from the student before an educational agency or institution may disclose personally identifiable information from the student´s education or health records.
