Peers Encouraging Responsible Sexuality at UNL (PERSUNL)

The mission of PERSUNL is to provide accurate information to UNL students about sexuality and sexual health issues by developing and implementing programming that addresses sexual health and raises awareness of sexuality-related issues; and to provide resources and referrals on campus.

Presentations

We provide presentations and education programming that encourages awareness of sexual health and responsibility issues upon request in residence halls, Greek houses, academic classes, and in the community.

  • HIV/AIDS
    • PERSUNL works with the Nebraska AIDS Project Lincoln office to assist in HIV/AIDS presentations at UNL and in the Lincoln area.
  • Sexually Transmitted Infections: The Basics
    • Provides general and specific information about the transmission and prevention of bacterial and viral sexually transmitted infections (STI's), including HIV/AIDS.
  • Safer Sex
    • Information and demonstrations on prevention and risk reduction
  • KEYS to Sexual Health
    • An interactive presentation where the audience members participate as teams competing for prizes based on their answers to questions and task completions in a variety of categories dealing with sexuality and sexual health.
  • Healthy Relationships
    • We provide information on relationship issues and concerns to encourage the development of healthy and satisfying relationships.
  • Contraceptive Methods and Issues
    • Information and demonstrations about the variety of contraceptive methods available with demonstrations about how these methods work.
  • GLBT Health
  • Self-Exams
  • Empathy Belly Demonstrations
  • Sex and Alcohol
  • Other topics per request

HIV/AIDS

We are actively involved in projects for World AIDS Day and staff the HIV antibody testing site, which is open weekly and free to anyone, including non-students.

Located within the Health Education department, room 12 on the lower level of the University Health Center (UHC), S.E.X. and PERSUNL provide:
  • Sexual Health Information
  • Resource and Referral Information
  • Presentations and literature on sexuality (including sexual orientation & gender identity)
  • Diversity Information
  • Ally materials (cards, magnets, information) and Ally Development Workshops
  • Information and presentations on topics including contraception, sexually transmitted infections & relationship issues.
