Know Your Numbers Workshop

Monday, Feb. 21, 5:30 to 6:15 p.m.

Preventing heart disease begins by building healthy habits as a young adult. In this interactive workshop hosted by University Health Center provider Terry Thomas, you’ll learn how people of color are at a higher risk for heart disease and discover practical ways you can beat the statistics and live a healthier life.

Heart Healthy Meal Kit Monday

Register by Wednesday, Feb. 16 to pick up your four-serving meal kit including a recipe card and pre-portioned ingredients. Incorporate brussels sprouts into the classic tostada for some extra veggies and color. These tostadas are topped with brussels, corn, onion, refried beans, and a delicious green sauce. Avocados provide healthy fats and beans are a great source of soluble fiber - a truly great way to love your heart! Pre-registration is required.

Cardio Dance Class with Monica M.

If you like Zumba® & Hip Hop, you’ll love Cardio Dance! This class provides continuous cardio using a combination of current music and high energy dance moves. This class is free, but reservation for attendance is required. Free Breakfast and Wellness Profiles

Wednesday, Feb. 23, 8 to 11 a.m.
University Health Center, Medical Clinic (level two) 

Wellness profiles are a quick blood draw that gives a snapshot of your health and detects possible problems. Enjoy a free to-go breakfast for participating. Fasting after midnight is required.

Appointments are required. Call 402.472.5000 to schedule your free Love Your Heart wellness profile.

Wellness profiles are no cost for those who pay student fees. This event is open to students only; faculty and staff are ineligible to participate.

CookWell Class

Wednesday, Feb. 23, 12 to 12:45 p.m. 
East Campus Recreation Center, Wellness Kitchen

This instructor led class will walk you through a lunch recipe step by step. Join us in the Wellness Kitchen to learn more about how you can love your heart! You will learn about the principles of a heart healthy diet with tips and tricks from a Registered Dietitian. Watch and learn as we make Quinoa Chickpea Salad with a Balanced Banana Split for dessert! Participants receive a free sample and recipe cards to take home! Pre-registration is required.

Slow Flow Yoga Class with Iryna P.

Friday, Feb. 25, 4 p.m.

Big Red Heart Challenge

Monday, Feb. 21, thru Friday, Feb. 25

Win money for your registered student organization (RSO)! Stop by one of the photobooths hosted at Know Your Numbers Workshop or Free Breakfast and Wellness Profiles to participate. One of our volunteers will take your photo and post it to the University Health Center's Instagram page with the RSO you are representing. The organization with the most likes at the end of the week will be awarded with $150 for their RSO.
