Enrollment

Open enrollment for Spring/Summer 2020 coverage will open on December 2, 2019.

  • International students and graduate assistants are automatically enrolled. Once the student insurance charges appear on your MyRed account (around Dec. 21, 2019), you must accept or waive the insurance. The deadline to waive insurance is February 12, at midnight.
  • Those enrolled in the insurance plan, either voluntarily or automatically, can enroll their dependents through their UHCSR My Account. For more information, contact the UnitedHealthcare StudentResources campus representative
  • Domestic students can voluntarily enroll by:
    1. Logging into MyRed
    2. Selecting the Profile tab
    3. Clicking on Health Insurance

Basic Info

DESCRIPTION:
An ACA-compliant student insurance plan

ELIGIBILITY:
  • All students enrolled in six or more credit hours in a degree-seeking program
  • All degree-seeking international students, regardless of credit hour level. International students will be auto-enrolled, unless they provide proof of other coverage and sign a waiver.
  • The credit hour limit listed above will not apply to:
    1. Graduate assistants
    2. Degree-seeking master’s level graduate students enrolled in one or two credit hours for the purpose of completing their thesis and are full-time certified by Graduate Studies
    3. Doctoral students enrolled in one or two credit hours for the purpose of completing their dissertation and are full-time certified by Graduate Studies
    4. All visiting scholars if approved by the University
    5. All Intensive English Program students
    6. New degree-seeking student who start in the summer will have a three-hour minimum credit hour requirement

Diagnostic services (e.g., periodic oral evaluation): 100 percent coverage
Preventive services (e.g., prophylaxis/cleaning, preventive fluoride treatment): 100 percent coverage
Basic services (e.g., simple extractions, periodontics): 80/20
Major services (e.g., inlays/onlays/crowns): 30/70

What's Covered

UNIVERSITY HEALTH CENTER SERVICES:
Most medically necessary services are covered at 100 percent with no deductible or coinsurance. You must pay the University Program and Facilities Fee each semester you use your student insurance at the University Health Center

NON-HEALTH CENTER SERVICES:
Covered, subject to deductible and coinsurance

ROUTINE VISION EXAMS:
Covered at 100 percent at the University Health Center and up to $50 for non-University Health Center providers; no coverage for contacts or glasses

ANNUAL DENTAL BENEFITS:
  • Two healthy mouth cleanings*
  • Two exams*
  • One set of bite wing X-rays per year*

*These covered services come out of your $1,000 dental policy year maximum.
