Do I need to do anything if I want my health insurance plan to be billed?
Yes, you need to bring your health insurance card (or a picture or copy of the front and back) with you to each visit. Remember to check with your health insurance plan to understand if/how they will cover services at Nebraska Medicine.
If the health center bills my insurance, will I have to pay any portion of the bill?
Possibly. If you receive services that are not covered by student fees, these charges will be billed to your health insurance plan. Most health insurances only cover a portion of your medical costs. Your plan may require you to pay a deductible, copay or coinsurance. Contact your insurance plan to find out how it works at Nebraska Medicine. Will a bill or other statement go to my family’s address?
Possibly. Any charges not covered by insurance will be submitted to your MyRed Student Account. The charge will be general and will not include any diagnostic information.
An Explanation of Benefits (EOBs) is different than a bill. They are forms your health insurance plan will mail to the address on file. If you are age 19 or older, you can ask your health insurance plan to direct your EOBs to the address of your choosing. Learn more by viewing our guide on how health insurance works.
